Cycling

Free from through-traffic and surrounded by paths to explore, Lochgoil is a geat place to cycle. The rising popularity of e-bikes opens more of the otherwise challenging hill routes to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Paths and tracks

The River Walk offers a low-level, easy access route for all cyclists and all types of bike. Its smooth surface, coupled with places to stop and rest, make this 3km route an ideal and safe place to ride for young families.

Cycling Friendly

With the help of a Shift cycling grant from Cycling UK and the loan of 3 e-bikes to the community, the Trust has worked hard to encourage cycling as a key contribution towards our Active Travel objectives.

In November 2021, Lochgoilhead was awarded a Cycling Friendly Communities Silver award from Cycling Scotland in recognition of our work.

Cycle Ride Leaders

In January 2022, Delegates from Lochgoilhead and Drymen completed a Cycling Scotland Cycle Ride Leader training course, hosted by Lochgoil Community Trust and funded by a Cycling UK SHIFT Cycling grant. This nationally recognised, accredited course taught delegates the skills necessary to safely lead group cycle rides, both on roads and on recognised cycle paths.
